Rough Patches

Everyone in their own specific field of career has to face challenges that slows them down at any point throughout their lifetime. Writers or authors have no exception in this. They too have to overcome obstacles when it comes to their work.

First of all, writer's block is usually the major problem for writers everywhere. You're about to write the best draft you'll ever going to make, you have the title, you know the plot, you've created your characters along with their detailed backgrounds, but there is just one problem. How do you start? How would you maintain the flow to make it interesting enough? Some don't even have the slightest idea of what to write about. Don't force it out. Find inspiration elsewhere. Calm yourself. Go outside and have a good stroll around the neighbourhood. Maybe go the park or even watch your favourite TV show. The ideas will come to you soon enough.

Most writers especially big time authors like J.K Rowling do not have the luxury to wait for inspiration to come flying by. They have deadlines to meet and it's not professional for them to be late. Publishers will be angry. Readers will be disappointed. At one point, they would have to force themselves to write, force the ideas to come just to meet the deadline despite experiencing writer's block.

Other than that, publishing also proves to be a challenge for writers to overcome. No matter how good you think you are or how legendary you think your work could be, if no one wants to publish your work, you will not go anywhere. You will have to go through a few rejections until finally you get to the one  who really gives a damn about your literary work. Keep looking. Don't give up.

Fear is another problem. Another big problem. And this fear starts from yourselves. Imagine that you wrote a great draft for a novel but every time you want o show to to anyone, your inner demon starts voicing out, "You think this is good? You're a disgrace. What if a Matleh reads it and laughs at you, judges you. A toddler can write better than you. Put that where no one will find it." and you hid it in your closet for God knows how long. Do not listen to the toxic voices in your head!!! What if you are actually good? What if? You wouldn't know if you are good or bad unless someone reads your stuff and gives feedback. Feedbacks help you to grow. Feedbacks help you to know what you're doing wrong. Fear of not being good enough should be pushed aside but instead, think about the fear of not improving. Show what you wrote to close family and friends. If they say its not that good, just accept it and try again. If its good, congratulations.
